This contest is now closed.
Why cinema? Because this is a contest for writing specifically inspired by a film or films.
Why sin? Because this is Wrongdoing Magazine, obviously.
(But no affiliation to the channel CinemaSins (also obviously))
Here's the deal:
Our Editor-in-Chief, Pascale Potvin, is raising money to fund the post-production of her feature-length horror film, Baby Fever.
In return, she's opening a pop-up submission window during which she'll read your motion-picture-inspired work, then offer $500 (USD) to a single winner. If you missed our regular submission period, this is also a great chance to get yourself into Issue 3.

Overall, lots to be excited about.
GUIDELINES
Your work may be inspired by an existing film or films of any genre (though we do tend to prefer horror (wink wink)).
All submissions will be considered for the issue and non-winners may also receive an offer of publication (which comes with our regular payment of $10 CAD per contributor).
Our submissions are open to everyone, everywhere; however, we especially look to publish marginalized creatives. This is not up for debate, and neither are our rejections. The judge's decisions are final.
For legal reasons, we are unable to publish fanfiction. Submissions of fanfiction will be disqualified.
Please also note that though we enjoy the risky and the risqué, we do not want gratuitously violent or sexual fantasies. Neither do we want work that objectively condones/promotes bigotry of any kind. This type of content can get you banned from submitting.
(It's always clearly intended to offend. If you're worried about accidentally sending us something like this, you're probably in the clear.)
We reserve the right to reject/take down work from any submitter/contributor we find to have committed hateful, abusive, or plagiarizing behaviour.
The nitty gritty details:
You may submit one work per contest entry. Multiple entries are allowed, but will require an additional fee for each submission.
You may also make a new entry (or entries) after your work is declined (so long as we're still before the deadline, April 12th).
Please do not send us anything over 5000 words, but don’t stress about the formatting—please keep it simple, and with a readable font. Double-spaced prose, single-spaced poetry.
Expedited response and feedback options are unfortunately not available for this particular sub call.
All submitters will hear back from us before the end of April.
Rights and payment:
Submissions must have never appeared in another publication. Work published on a personal site is okay, as long as it is taken down upon acceptance.
By submitting to Wrongdoing in any capacity, you are confirming that all of the enclosed work is original and belonging to you.
Simultaneous submissions are perfectly fine, but please do e-mail us at wrongdoingmag@gmail.com if a work is accepted elsewhere. We hope you can understand that we are unable to offer refunds for withdrawn entries.
Revision requests will be honored upon acceptance if desired. We will also run you by any edits we might wish to make to your piece.
We acquire First Serial Rights to the works that we accept for publication. Upon acceptance, your piece may not appear anywhere else until we publish it—at which point the rights revert back to you, the contributor.
The prize money will be awarded to the winner prior to publication. Due to our Canadian status, we are only able to pay via PayPal if the winner is international, though we are open to looking at other options if very much needed.
Please credit Wrongdoing Magazine as first publisher when you republish work that originated with us. We also reserve the right to archive and of course promote your writing or art. Should we wish to anthologize works previously published by us, we'll always reach out to the author/artist for permission to reprint them.
